Serves
700 students play tennis each year
Our Serves Programs
Entry-level tennis programs are offered through physical education classes and after school programs in Title 1 elementary, middle, and high schools. Programs promote access to athletic opportunities that many youth otherwise would not have due to lack of opportunities or lack of financial resources.
We provide equipment, coaches, and PE teacher mentoring to achieve the following:
keep students active to reverse the crisis of childhood obesity;
instill confidence on and off the court;
model sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork; and
facilitate students’ development of lasting and healthy habits.

Expansion of Youth Tennis Programs
South Bay Serves programs include sports-based youth tennis development coupled with college and career readiness, yoga and meditation activities, and community engagement to prepare students to thrive on and off the court. This work is part of our role as a proud USTA Foundation National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapter, a nationwide network using tennis as a catalyst for education, character, and opportunity.
We invite you to check out our 2025 Summer Highlights video to see the impact of South Bay Serves in action.
As part of the USTA Foundation’s National Junior Tennis & Learning program, we offer South Bay Serves, our after-school tennis program in 10 elementary, middle, and high schools in partnership with Chula Vista Elementary School District, San Ysidro School District, and Sweetwater Union High School District.
